The stars and bars are valued symbols of America and Betsy Ross would be filled with joy to see how ever-popular her design is today. Everyone loves the important history behind the flag, but should we deface our country by wearing bad 4th of July fashion? Should this be considered fashion heresy?
So put your Miss America thong string bikini into yesterday’s trash and show your patriotism in a more tasteful manner.

The white glove, the sparkles, the suits… and yes, even the change of skin color. There are are hardly words to describe MJ’s impact on fashion. Although his death was a huge and painful shock, it has given us all a moment to stop and think about his many great accomplishments. He will forever be remembered as being a true icon and innovator in music, dance, and fashion.
This small post cannot do a bit of justice for the decades of style influence of the King of Pop. We would like to share our top 10 (in no particular order) favorite looks from his very long career.

Unless you are in born into royalty or you own several foreign oil reserves, most of us are not able to drape ourselves in the luxurious Italian brand- Missoni. The brand, best known for its kaleidoscope knitwear and colorful silks, is collaborating with an American fashion staple: Converse Chucks.
WWD reports that at the Missoni menswear show in Milan (in addition to the fashion on the runway showing Angela Missoni spring/summer 2010 line) attendees got a first look at the Premium Chuck Hi Missoni which were worn by Tai Missoni. Keep your eyes open wide for the sneakers to appear in stores from beginning of 2010.

Many women dream of having ruby red lips and sparkling eyes. Thanks to the imaginative mind of the Salvador Dali, you can have these radiant features with or without makeup.
The eccentric artist once based his style upon, “My love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes”. Well, Dali, it looks like we got something in common.
The surrealist painter designed these jewelry pieces himself in the 40’s and 50’s along with choosing each stone based on symbolic meaning. The result is a gorgeous collection of fine jewelry that mixes dreams and reality. Today you can see these objets d’art at the Teatro-Museo in Dali’s hometown of Figueres, Spain, or purchase your own reproduction at the Salvador Dali Museum’s website.

“No deeper rubies than compose thy lips, Nor pearls more precious than inhabit them.”

If you find yourself in the Big Apple and want to check out something truly great, head to SoHo and take a gander at the Nespresso Capsule Art Exhibit & Tasting Bar. Artist Ricardo Bellino collaborates with the luxury coffee company to put his own unique spin on pop culture icons. Using the ordinary colorful capsules, he creates a rather extraordinary installation. It is truly amazing how art is conceived through the minds of creative geniuses.
All proceeds go to partnering foundations (British Memorial Garden, Musicians On Call, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and The Princess Grace Awards)

Apparently Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo is such a big fan of the Snuggie (the infamous WTF infomercial blanket with sleeves) that he has partnered with the company to create a special Weezer Snuggie that they’re calling the “Wuggie.” The only difference being the Wuggie has Weezer’s name on it. That, and it comes in rockstar leopard.

“Geek Chic” has been mighty fashionable for the past two decades. One can argue that we should give credit to George McFly from Back To The Future, Jason Long for Apple, or Seth Cohen from the OC… but I must beg to differ. It is critical that we contribute the ultra trend to the original Godfather of Nerdy: Steve Urkel circa 1989 (note: not his suave alter ego- Stefan). The oversized rimmed glasses, suspenders, extreme high-waisted flood jeans, oxford shoes… talking nerdy has never had quite an appeal.
Whether fighting for the fatherly approval of Carl, the love of Laura, the companionship of Eddie, or the general acceptance of all of the Winslow clan- his nasally voice may get under your skin, but there is something stylish about his annoying antics. So, go ahead and replicate the America’s favorite nerd-next-door with a heart of gold.
Bookworm readers from Urban Outfitters, $20
J Brand “The Bardot” High Waist Skinny Jean, $189
American Apparel unisex suspenders, $16
Christian Louboutin Oxfords available at Barneys, $595

Looks like all of her countless jobs and hard work has paid off, because when Barbie’s big day arrives, she plans on wearing nothing but top notch designer duds. The question on everyone’s mind (besides IS KEN THE LUCKY GROOM?!?)… is how on earth will she ever decide?
