A long time ago in a shoe closet far, far away…

Posted: under Collaboration, Movies.

I’ve been meaning to post these for awhile, but I always say it’s better late than never.  Please sit back and allow your inner-child to be enamored with the newest Star Wars Collaboration for Fall/Winter 2010 created by the branding geniuses at Adidas Originals. Just think about it, you could be the coolest kid at Comicon with these fly kicks. And the best part? Now I can finally attract Star Wars nerds without having to whip out the old golden bikini! Time to cross that one off on my to-do list.

C3PO/R2D2

Boba Fett

More Boba Fett (!!!)

Jabba the Hutt

Han Solo… in carbonite!

Wookiee jacket, which I can only hope I will be rocking come wintertime.

PS. Whoever styled the shoes with the backgrounds, I LOVE YOU.

“My diaper is full of chic”

Posted: under Collaboration, Shopping.

Just try to look at these adorable Vivienne Westwood for Melissa baby shoes and not die of a cuteness overload. I’ve always thought the regular-sized versions of this shoe collaboration were cute, but these itty-bitty plastic wonders are just painfully adorable. I want to time travel back to the 1980’s and place these suckers on my little baby feet. Any child who is lucky enough to start their young life wearing these is bound to be a fashion innovator for the rest of their plastic shoe-wearing years.

In other baby fashion related news, the JWT for Huggies commercial has glorified the trend of putting small children in jean cut-off shorts. Okay, they’re actually “jean” diapers, but it definitely looks like these children are destined to become never nudes. The commercial is hilarious, cute, and creepy, all at the same time. What do you think of these denim poop holders?

Barbie goes GaGa

Posted: under Collaboration, Music, Style Icon, Toys.

We just can’t keep up with these paralleling fashion careers. Veik, a 29-year-old Barbie enthusiast from Beijing, has updated the doll to channel THE ultimate style icon right now. He recreates Miss Gaga’s most memorable outfits and shrinks them to 11.5 inches. From the Bad Romance Alexander McQueen high heels from hell to Jean-Charles Castelbajac’s Kermit creation, Barbie will make us all want to Just Dance.

Thirsty, anyone?

puma-basket-soda-pack-1

Puma has been inspired by sugary soft drinks for their latest collection of Basket 2 kicks.  The colors resemble the aluminum packaging of such fave drinks as Diet Coke, Root Beer, Fanta, and Coca-Cola classic.  Best of all, these shoes don’t cause obesity or tooth decay.

Soft drink colors may have inspired these shoe styles, but it went the other way around last September during Milan Fashion Week.  Coca-Cola Light (aka Diet Coke) teamed up with famous Italian designers for a truly bizarre showcase of fashion by dressing Coke bottle “models” that whizzed down the runway. Fendi, Moschino, Ferretti, Etro, and Versace were just some of the big names to lend their styles to this marketing mayhem.  Oh the delicious (sugar-free) horror….

Obey your jeans

Posted: under Art, Collaboration.

obey_levis_5-570x690

First came HOPE, and now come the jeans to match.  Street artist Shepard Fairey has teamed up with the world’s most iconic jeans brand to create Obey x Levi’s, a men’s clothing collection with worn-in touches (think pins, spray paint drips) and a vintage look. The collection draws influence from the brand’s industrial history and punk rock culture, which Fairey claims to be two great sources of influence for much of his work.

Despite his recent legal controversies, Fairey is set to create a live art installation outside of the Levi’s store in Times Square this Thursday (October 29th) at 7 p.m. The artist will then be signing limited edition posters made for the campaign that are given with purchase at the store. If you are unable to make it to Times Square, a YouTube video of the installation will be posted online shortly after.

Living in a material world

jpgaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier has announced that he will be the next A-list designer to grace the aisles of Target (pronounced Tar-Jay of course). And who might be the inspiration for Gaultier’s collection? None other than her Madgesty Madonna. Pointy-bra tops, leotards, overalls, mesh crop tops, corsets — all the things that material girls want but can’t pay more than Target prices for.

“Jean Paul Gaultier for Target pays tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture,” the retailer said.

Sounds good, ’cause only boys who save our pennies make our rainy day. Mark your calenders: available March 7-April 11.

If the shoe fits…

Posted: under Collaboration, Designer, Fashion News, Food for thought.

The modern day Cinderella and her BFF Fairy Godmother have reached a whole new level in 2009. Introducing Le Rituel, a deliciously indulgent collaboration brought to you by the shoe guru Christian Louboutin and the French champagne house Piper Heidsieck.  You can purchase a red-soled Louboutin glass stiletto along with your bottle of bubbly in honor of the 19th century French tradition of drinking champagne from a woman’s shoe (mmm, tasty).  It will be sure to make all wicked step-sisters jealous, although we can’t guarantee it will get you out of housework. Available for a limited time from Colette starting October 26th.

Inside (and now on the outside) all of us is a wild thing.

Posted: under Collaboration, Designer, Movies.

Inside of all of us is a wild thing, and there’s no doubt that the collaboration from fashion house Opening Ceremony and Spike Jonze will help you unleash yours. The collection is designed as a serious yet playful interpretation of the various book characters and soon to come cinematic masterpiece. “By staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once”, Max was made the king of the wild things. Achieve his look exactly with super soft faux fur one piece footie pajamas:

Max Suits

Or, for those of us with that untamed forest of imagination, but want to choose pieces that are practical- there are more serious pieces in the collection like functional accessories and “Monster Fur” lined jackets, bombers coats, and dresses:

Gossip Folk

Posted: under Collaboration, Designer, Television.

Target has a great reputation for collaborating with big name designers to deliver cutting edge fashion at affordable prices.  Currently Anna Sui joins the team with her new ultra-hip collection inspired by the hit show Gossip Girl.  The pieces look surprisingly like what you might find in the Upper East Side, aside from a few hapless items including a shirt that says BFFLWHLAGSAL: Best Friends For Life Who Have Lunch and Go Shopping A Lot (wtf, Anna?). After selling like hotcakes at a pop-up concept store in Soho last week, the collection is now for sale at Target stores and on the store’s website, although many items have sold out after only one day.  I guess that’s what happens when you combine a hit show for teenagers with a massive marketing campaign.  Visit www.target.com to view the entire collection.  In the meantime, check out some outfits….

Los Angeles based designer Grant Krajecki loves pushing his designs to the extreme. His creativity continues with the launching of his lower-priced Grey Antics line for Spring ‘10 . His ahead-of-the-curve designs have become instant favorites of movers and shakers around the world.

Most notably featured in this unorthodox collection are the Teva collaborated Velcro heel/sandals that make you reminisce about your summers at sleepaway camp.  The line will debut in boutiques nationwide early next year. Only time will tell if this product will be successful. It sure does makes me hungry for s’more unique Krajecki designs…
